Plancha is Spanish for iron. With the original plancha from SKOTTI, you can enjoy Mediterranean cuisine directly on your SKOTTI. Place the plancha in your SKOTTI grill instead of the grill grate, and thanks to the indirect heat on the plate, you can prepare wonderfully tender and juicy grilled items like shrimp, vegetables, mushrooms, and much more. Or how about a fried egg from the grill?
Where does the plancha come from?
The plancha is a special grill plate that originated in Spain but is also enjoying increasing popularity here. On a plancha, you grill indirectly at temperatures of up to 300°C, resulting in optimal and very even heat distribution.
The SKOTTI Plancha is made of 3mm thick, high-quality stainless steel and weighs 1.3 kg.
The plancha grill is especially effective when grilling small items like scampi and vegetables. They don't need to be skewered; they can be mixed and gently grilled directly on the griddle.
What do I need to use the plancha?
The SKOTTI, of course. Now all you have to do is swap the grill grate for the plancha. Done! Now your SKOTTI can grill Spanish style.
What are the advantages of grilling on a plancha?
The indirect heat on a plancha allows for particularly gentle grilling. And if desired, without any "additives" such as fat, for example – the food itself takes care of that job. The liquid released from the food forms a thin "protective layer" between the plancha and the food, ensuring everything turns out the way it should: crispy on the outside and juicy on the inside. And with a more intense flavor: Food "cooked" or grilled in its own juices naturally retains its original flavor better.
What can you grill on a plancha?
The question should rather be: What can't you grill on a plancha? There are almost no limits. We've tried it ourselves and found it incredibly delicious: steak, fish, mussels, various vegetables, fruit, mushrooms, fruit, and fried eggs.
Okay, by the way, ice cream doesn't work. Unless you want to create a delicious sweet sauce.
